Sean Adam & Margot Chase

Sean Adams gave me plenty of insight on the importance of graphic design in the areas of its importance to capitalism, networking, and its history. He opened my eyes as to how designing is "the lubricant for commerce", how without advertisements ---which start with designers-- it would obviously be much more difficult to push a product  on consumers. As for getting started in the work field once your done with schooling were notable pointers on how to get started which is: NETWORKING; get to know people in the industry, talk to your instructor, ask for connections. Sean also reminded us to never forget your history, to look back at work from the past for influence and direction.
Margot Chase provided some great insight on ways to design that I would not have even known were in use, such as the scanning of object which can be scanned then transferred to illustrator  programs to then add text and ultimately create a brand. The use of calligraphy type pens to simply (but with good penmanship) jot down signatures which again can be scanned in, manipulated on design programs and once again create a grand or logo. Such simple yet genius shortcuts to designing. Margot, like Mr. Adams  spoke of looking back at design history for influence through typography books, fashion magazines, etc. Lastly she reminded us to try to not be one dimensional with your work, to put out a wide variety of style with the intention to show clientele a wide variety of skill in order to attract business.
